What: Town of Hortonia - Recal Democratic Primary ELECTION

When: Tuesday, July 12th, 2011   7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Where: Fire Hall on 700 W. Nye St. (County Rd TT)

Absentee Voting

  • Any registered voter may request an absentee ballot.
  • The request is made to the municipal clerk in writing by using the Application for Absentee Ballot (GAB-121). The voter making the request must sign the application.
  • If the written request is made by mail, it must arrive in PO Box 301 by Thursday March 31st. This is the last day that we can mail you an absentee ballot.
  • If the written request is made in person at the clerk’s office (Town Hall) it can be made prior to 5:00 p.m. on Monday July 11th.
    • If you make the request in person, you must vote there-and-then per statute §6.87(3)(a) 
  • Special provisions are made for hospitalized electors and sequestered jurors.
  • Regardless of whether you mail it or have it delivered in person, we [clerk or election officials] must receive your absentee ballot in the required GAB-122 envelope (signed, witnessed AND sealed) by Election Day, July 12th. If the envelope is not sealed, or not witnessed, or not signed, or arrives late, your vote can not be counted.
  • Finally, the rules / laws regarding absentee voting were not created by us [election officials or clerk] - they were created by your state legislators. So if you don't like the deadlines, procedure, etc, please complain to your legislator (assembly district 40, senate district 14), because no matter how passionately or loudly you complain to us, there's nothing we can do about it.
